I was quite disappointed with the DC Direct Aquaman – can't get past that grin. Actually, I was really never a fan of the silver age character until I recently read JLA Year One. So, Aquaman is born.

Aquaman is a DC Direct Green Lantern base (is there anything you can't make from these?). The gloves and leg fins are Sculpey, and the belt is cut styrene. The head is a heavily modified DC Direct Starman head, which turned out to give Arthur the more serious look that he deserves. I tried a number of things to get a scale-look on his shirt. Finally I got the effect by first spraying the shirt with dull-coat. Then covering the shirt with a fabric mesh and lightly spraying gloss. The photo doesn't show it well, but it gives it an almost organic, scaley look.
