Pre Drywall Construction

Construction began the first week of October, and ended the third week of November, 2002. Amazingly, the project was completed on time. I think the fact that it's such a small room contributed to the quick construction.

New wall studs were built in fron of existing, unfinished wall studs to aid in soundproofing. Because the ceiling was less than 8 ft already, I opted not to go with a floating or drop ceiling. The drywall was attached directly to the ceiling/floor studs.

The window, being so dominant in the small room, had to go. I framed an opening, then screwed a new frame to fit the opening, so that it can be removed easily if I have to. I lined the back with a heavy mil garbage bag, so that it's black from the window well outside. The window well will be screened from the top.

All the walls insulated, to prevent any cavities from resonating, and all contact with the floor was caulked.

I would have rather used unfaced Insulation batts, but I already had a bunch of them from a previous project, and I didnt want it to go to waste.
