About Holy Cross Lutheran Church

Holy Cross Lutheran Church is a modern Lutheran Church in a traditional setting. We are a small church, with a big heart. Pastor Stephen Schilke and Music Director Sharon Schilke combine modern music with a creative and modern liturgy that appeals to both the contemporary and traditional Lutheran worshipper as well as to those who are guests or are seeking a new church home. Our service is both uplifting and reflective, praiseworthy and penitent. Appealing to young and old alike and family friendly, our church doors are open to anyone who wishes to hear the good news about Jesus Christ. We invite you to come and discover a personal relationship with Jesus. We are waiting to meet you....and so is He!

Pastor Steve and his wife Sharon retired from careers in teaching and human resources, respectively, to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ through preaching and music. They both love the north country and participate in all four seasons of outdoor activities abundant in the Onaway area, including hunting, fishing, boating, & snowmobiling. A former high school football and basketball coach, Pastor Steve's door is always open to anyone who wishes to talk sports, hunting or fishing as well as to those with a spiritual problem. Pastor Steve's favorite Bible verse is Phil. 4:4
