STUDENT LED ANTI-DOMA PROTEST

At the OHIO STATEHOUSE, Feb. 21, 2004

Bowling Green University's and Miami U's LGBT/Queer student groups organized a Rally to protest the disheartening and discriminatory Ohio DOMA Law recently rushed thru the Ohio State legislature. About 250 students and supporters braved icy winds near State Street to hear pro-gay marriage/ anti-DOMA speakers, to raise colorful protest signs, and to cheer or boo in solidarity. At least 15 different Ohio colleges and a few high schools were represented. It was heartening to see so many college-aged and younger people get behind this issue. Ohio politicians had better watch out! After the Rally, the students and others met in the Ohio Union on the OSU campus and talked about what legal steps could be taken to repeal DOMA and gain recognition of equality for ALL people.

The Ohio flag flies proudly, the U.S. flag flies proudly, and the statue turns his back and refuses to hear...

(Does this cow-woman need a dress barn?) "Jesus and Neil Diamond both said 'I AM!' They may have meant different things, but both were asserting that they exist and are not ashamed of who and what they are! We are all Children of the Universe...just like the moon and the stars, we have a RIGHT to be here!"
