The street entrance of the tenement in Školská Street #16 in Prague, Municipal District 1, in which Jaroslav Hašek was born and grew up. The owner's request for a permit  to demolish the building due to its advanced state of deterioriation was apparently rejected for the time being. (More photographs and Czech text .)

 

In 1921 Jaroslav Hašek moved to Lipnice nad Sázavou.

There, at The Czech Crown Inn, he wrote a substantial part (books Two, Three, and Four) of Švejk

The place was run-down after forty years of socialist economy under the Communist government. Luckily, Jaroslav Hašek's grandson Richard and his wife Zdena bought the place after the metamorphosis of the system in 1989, renovated it and run it as private enterprise. Thanks!

In 1922 Jaroslav Hašek bought this cottage where on January 3, 1923 he died

He is buried at the Lipnice Old Cemetery:
