THE EDINBURGH MILITARY TATTOO |
Each summer, performances of the Edinburgh Tattoo (one of our 'Best of the Best') are videotaped by the BBC (British Broadcasting Company) and broadcast in the autumn. The 'BBC America' cable channel carries the program in the United States. Video tapes of the 1994 through 1999 performances are reported to still be available direct from The Tattoo Office in Edinburgh, Scotland. TIP If you live in the USA or Canada, be sure to specify that you want the 'NTSC' format (the broadcast standard for North America.) |
'Travels in Europe®' episodes are still being broadcast on PBS here in the States. Check with your local PBS station. Rick Steves' website has the scripts for each show available online. Small World Productions has information on obtaining these 'NTSC' format video tapes.
The new 'Rick Steves' Europe®' series is now being broadcast in the States. Get the details of the sixteen new episodes on Rick's website. Be sure to check your local PBS station schedule.
'Rudy Maxa's Smart Travels - Europe®' episodes were recently broadcast on PBS in the States. Rudy Maxa spends an all-too-brief two episodes visiting our favourite island kingdom. We can only hope that he will cover more of Britain with his unique insights in a future series. Check with your local PBS station. EDWARDIAN COUNTRY HOUSE |
Produced by Channel 4 in Britain, the 'Manor House' television series records life downstairs (the servants) and life upstairs ('their betters') in an Edwardian era, grand country house. Here in the Colonies ['United States'] the series was called the 'Edwardian Country House' and broadcast by PBS. It was filmed at Manderston House and Gardens which we serendipitously visited on Day 27 of our 31-Day Tour of England, Scotland and Wales. When we last checked both Channel 4s 'The Edwardian Country House' TV seriesand PBSs mirror site Manor House websites were still online. Be sure to check-out Channel 4s SpinCam™ 360° views house tour. The 'Manor House' video is available in the USA (NTSC format for North America) from http://www.amazon.com/ and the British 'PAL' format 'Edwardian Country House' is available form http://www.amazon.co.uk/.
