Sometimes - once in a lifetime seems to be about right - one just has to give in to the impulse to spend a weekend in England  ...Birmingham to be exact.  The Warley Model Railway Club organises England's biggest annual model railway exhibition at Birmingham's NEC in the late autumn (In 2003 it is 6th & 7th December.)  Typically, this exhibition features over 50 model railways (gauges Z to 1), over 100 specialist trade stands, major scale & gauges societies, and preservation & special interest societies.  One airline serendipitously offered round-trip tickets at an irresistible (even for the off season) price and for the very weekend during which that year's exhibition was being held.
