At 34 days, 'England, Glasgow & Edinburgh' was the longest of our holidays in Britain.  An initial stay of nine days in London with day trips to Norwich & Norfolk, Hampton Court Palace, Brighton and Eastbourne preceded a sleeper train to Plymouth and our first tour of Cornwall.  After a few stops in Somerset and Wiltshire and a day in Gloucester, we made our way through Warwickshire to Northamptonshire.  Two days touring the best of Derbyshire were followed by three days in York.  Next came Cheshire, Yorkshire and three days in Cumbria. The holiday ended with one day of sightseeing in Glasgow and a three day visit to Edinburgh.

We note in passing that portions of these itineraries reflect my trouble and strife's ['wife's'] touring philosophy...  First, we revisit every place we have been in Britain.  Then, we see something new.  The only hiccup ['slight problem'] with this approach is that each successive holiday ['vacation'] becomes longer than the last.
