Comments: Carl, this site keeps getting better... a lot better, and it was great before; terrific. I was 1st Flight slick CE, flew with AC Mike Bonthuis on 834, late '68 to June '69. Just hooked up with Mike for the first time since we left; also pilots Bob Paine, David Maib, Ed Ferguson, allstar gunner Eggy, nomad Jake, Mike "Shakey" Curran, my pal Al Mixer, many others. We're still looking for Davey Silk, Frakes... Lammers... Johnson... Ti Ti... many others... We are making progress here. That picture of the legs out the right side of 834... I think I took the picture, so the legs may be Bobby Copher, my first gunner, the guy who trained me to fly as crew chief. Thanks again, Carl.

Comments: I am posting this message on behalf of my father, Larry Crowe. He asked me to see what I could find on the 'net concerning the 119th AHC. I found your page and printed off some of the info. for him. He found it very interesting. He is looking for some of the guys he served with. He was a spec 5 helicopter mechanic and served at Camp Holloway from March '67 through March '68. I know he will tell others about your site. Thanks.

Comments: What a nice surprise this site is. I came over from Fort Ord with the 52nd. in about Feb. of 1963 and was with the Hq. Co. 52nd Avn Bn. until my return to the states March 30th 1964. I was a switch board operator for the base phone system while there. This site woke up quite a few memories of my time in the army and Viet Nam. Compared a lot of pictures I have plus the ones on this site. Nice job of setting up this web-site. ""Thanks""

Comments: Was a Gator at Holloway 4/65 to 4/66. Came up on a deros adjustment from Ban Me Thout. Flew as AC on old 009, UH-1B most of the time. CW-4 Charlie Berryhill, SP-4 (i think) Kent Reinhard (crew chief) and PFC Tillman (gunner) were fellow crew members. Charlie resides in Texas, Kent in Calif. and I don't know where Tillman is. I did see him once at Ft Rucker in about 68' or 69'. Croc 6, Cpt Lee Biggs and others from the 119th are in this (Ft Rucker) area. Cpt Wright who took over as Croc 6 when Lee left resides in Panama City ,Fl. Welcome Home!! See you-all at VHPA Ft Worth.

Comments: Got extensive collection of memorabilia of 52nd.Avn. Btn. Med. Sect (Photos & Misc. Historical Doc.s) Would like to share & acquire other items with alumni of Camp Holloway - especially "Dust-Off" flight crews. First time I've been able to handle organizing items to eventually leave with sons (both currently in Army). I've always entertained the idea of compiling material into some form of book for benefit of families of those that served. Any participation would be appreciated and I'll be more than willing to share what I have.

Comments: Man, these VietNam sites are like a time tunnel. Eerie. One of your pics of "downtown" Pleiku brought back an image of travelling through town enroute to An Khe. I wasn't in Holloway very long--in '70, the 4th Div. moved to An Khe after I'd only been in Pleiku about a month. I'd be interested to learn more about ops in the Pleiku and An Khe areas during '63-'64. Thanks for the site! MVS, RVN 30Jan70-30Nov70. Truck driver / machine gunner.

Comments: Arrived in Dec 1996 after unloading in Qui Nhon during a three week cruise on the USS John Pope.Same night, C-130'd to Pleiku AFB and trucked to Camp Holloway through downtown Pleiku after dark! Can never forget Jan 7, 1967. My unit (243rd Field Svc) was left with our M-14's locked up and the keys were in the secure officer's compound in Pleiku. Lost 5 guys from my platoon that night. Can anyone remember the name of the Camp Commander that night? Great site and may be able to send camp photos next month.

Comments: Awesome Site - thanks for the trip. I was a member of the 509th Engineer Co (Panel Bridge) in '68-'69 which was located on Engineer Hill, just down the road from Hollaway. We visited Holloway frequently for supplies, banking transactions, etc. and of course the steam baths and massage parlor. Going to to Holloway was almost like going back to the World with real streets, sidewalks, and lawns. It did change a bunch from the '64 inception. Again Thanks.

Knew Mr. Holloway and remember his death. Have many tales of the early times. Comments: I visited a while back and it looks as though you've been busy constructing and it is fine site indeed. I was with the 361st ACE '68-69. Ilook forward to the reunion in DFW of all the crew members and in July the Panthers I see are doing a gig. That's great. Hope I get to see some the guys. I' ll check back from time to time.

Comments: I was a crew chief with the 361st Panthers during 1970-71. Been a long time. Still remember Camp Holloway like I was there only last week. I can still see the Shell gas station on the corner just as you go into the town from Holloway. Strange what you remember sometimes.

Comments: I was doing a search for 7/17 stuff and hit your page. I have talked to Vern several times before. I was trying to track down some info on some events that happened while in Pleiku. I have been trying to find my air medals. When I was about to ETS I left the Delta and flew back up to Holloway to turn my stuff in. I was told that all my medals had just been shipped south but I never got them. My home page has a bunch of photos from Holloway including some of the 122 hits. If you have never seen a Cobra with 250 Lb bombs then check out the photo's on my home page.

Comments: This is really a great web site, I'm sure that anyone who was there will love it. I was a radio repairman assigned to B Troop 7/17 Air Cav. and worked out of 52nd ABC Avionics. I was at Camp Holloway from May 71 through March 72, while I was there I worked with and met some really great people. I am new to the web and thought I would try to use it to see if I can find any of the guys I served with? Thanks for the guest book, and thanks for your service to our country, Welcome Home!!

Comments: With the 755 Med Det until August 1968. During that time I went with the 219th to Kontum as their medic, and flew observer in their bird dogs. Would like to hear from anyone with the 755 Med or the 219th during that time, and especially would like to locate SFC George Watson. Your site brought back a lot of memories, some good, and some not so good. Thanks

Comments: Great job on the site. I served with the 119th from Nov 66 - Nov 67 mostly in the 1st flight platooon and during the last half of the tour as Gator 4. I was pleased to see the handi work of Terry Muldoon and myself was included. We were the origintors of the Gator Patch. The flight platoons had no patch except the 119th Company patch and the Crocs had theirs. Terry sent the drawing to his dad and he sent back US made patches, decals, and even stationary. The yellow background was 1st Plt and blue was 2d Plt. Once again great job and if any Gators have plans to be in DC Memorial day for Rolling Thunder get in touch and we will get together.

Comments: Enjoyed visiting this site. Brings back many memories. I arrived in the Pleiku area with first units of 4th ID (Jun 66). Got check rides, area orientation, etc., with 119th AHC and 155 AHC. Lt. Enari and I were roommates on ship from Ft. Lewis. He of course was later KIA and the HQ of 4th ID was named after him. I moved to Camp Holloway in Sep '66 (DEROS shuffle) and joined the 3rd Bde(TF), 25th ID. Flew from Holloway when not in field. Thanks for the opportunity to visit your site...

Comments: I was in the 119th from 15 oct 64 to 15oct 65 at Camp Holloway. I was an Alligator Oct. to January 15, 65 then transfered to the third platoon becoming a " Widow Maker" until Gen. Westy came along, then we became "Alligator Red", and ,finally, " Crocodile". Lots of great memories, some not so great --Feb 7 1965, April 19,1965, June 19,1965, Duc Co and Plei Me among them. Currently working on Viet Nam Museum project with fellow VHPA members. Good work on the web site - keep it up and thanks. Crocodile 2

Comments: My unit was the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 4th Inf. Division. I was in the advance party to secure the area for the 4th Inf. camp. This was in June 1966. Once more units moved in, we moved out to perform combat operations. Ocassionally, we will come into base camp for rest and visited Pleiku while there.

Comments: I was in the Pleiku area 70-71. First with the 509th Combat Engineers, Waite Davis, and Lonely. Then the with 35th Advisory Group. Made it in to Holloway a couple of times on pass, and once while AWOL, (Hey, we were bored, and there was this convoy. . .) got tot ally drunk at the NCO club each time. (Don't do that no more!). Anyone from the 604th re- member rigging up some 7.62 mini-guns on our APC, and jeep? Worked great, but had a hell of a time keeping antennas, and if you fired broadside going flat out it would actually push you sideways in the opposite direction that you fired from! How about some one from the 509th, 35th, Davis, Lonely, Phu Nhon? Thanks, God Bless.

Comments: I was assigned to the 179th ASHC "Shrimpboats" at Camp Holloway from Jan '67-Jan '68. Besides flying the CH-47A for 1100 hours that year, I flew the 52nd's U-6A on missions to Saigon and other bases. As a RW & FW Instrument Flight Examiner, I flew with many of the pilots from all the units....renewing "tickets". The aerial photo was great....even could make-out my "hooch"! I planted the bananna trees in the 179th Officer's open area across from the "O" Club....understand many of them were shredded during "TET '68", but probably grew back. I was a friend of CWO Holloway [I also flew CH-21's at Bragg and Belvior] and had lunch with him at Tan Son Nhut about a week before he was killed. I was over from Bangkok on a flight. CWO Bob Hillburn, also living in FL, has a Web-Page about the 179th, with links to all other Chinook units in Viet Nam. E-mail me and I will "forward" the page. A real GREAT job on putting this 52nd page together! I also belong to the 52nd/Camp Holloway Association and AAAA, USAWOA and VHPA....e-mail me for membership info in these associations. Our Florida LZ Chapter of VHPA is very active year-round, displaying our OH-6 and other VN items. We always need "help" with our activities! Welcome Home....Don Joyce, ACHPC 55-Fox, Rucker's 1st WOC Class.
