Name: Peter Birrow Website: Referred by: Other Veteran's Home Page From: Tyngsboro mass Time: 1999-04-15 20:52:09 Comments: Thanks to all who served at Holloway. The air support I received in 68/69 while serving with 2/35,4th Infantry as an 11 Bravo is still well appreciated, even today. I can never thank you guys enough for the basics of life that you brought to us out in the field. The gunship support, the dustoffs, and the rides out of hot spots all made up for the lifts into hot LZ's. But even those were done with expertise and professionalism. Lastly, thanks again to the crew that gave me my deros ride out of the field. When we landed at Holloway they invited this dirty, stinky, brown-mud covered grunt into their club and bought me all the cold beer I could drink before my ride showed up! I'm here today because of your actions and considerations. Bravo |

S-1's (I was working for CPT Anderson)up at 17th CAG near the end of the war. A couple of months before we all left in 1973, we got a delivery at the office of a box of plaques that were apparently ordered by some guys who had already DEROSed. The plaque is about 8"x11" and I think is made of teak. It has the 17th CAG symbol. There were no names in the box for us to identify who had bought them, so rather than just throw them away several of us got one apiece and brought them home with us. If any of you guys remember ever buying a 17th CAG plaque, drop me a line. I don't know how I can confirm if you were the one who ordered it (especially if I get several messages) but I guess we can figure something out. I like the plaque and have in my office, but it does not belong to me, even though I was assigned to the 17th CAG. Let me know. If no one claims it, I will continue to display it with pride. |

I flew for the 119th AHC (Gators/ Slick Yellow-tail Platoon)from Oct'66 -Oct'67. As a new WO1, I was anxious to get a lot of flying...and did I ever. My first 30 days in-country involved 171 hours, and I had only the 3rd highest total. My official call sign was Gator 373, but "California Dreamer" was the nose art on my new H-model I got in mid-'67. Didn't have it long though, as WOs Jim Bosley and Jim Daniels crashed it near Jackson Hole one monsoon night flying at the request of a "grunt" Lt. Colonel. Looking for a good friend named Paul Kenney; but would also like to talk with all other pilots and crew members of that era. If any of you get to Las Vegas, call the Police Department and ask them to get in-touch of me. |

Name: Nick Bellantoni Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In! From: Little Silver, New Jersey Time: 1999-01-04 07:12:05 Comments: I have visited this site before on many occaisions, and I enjoy looking at the pictures of Camp Holloway. I was stationed with the 167th. Signal Company which was located on Engineer Hill in Pleiku from March of 1969 to March of 1970. During my year of duty in-country, I had the opportunity to travel to all of the bases in the Pleiku area, and Camp Holloway was a favorite stop whenever I could go there. My unit is scheduled to have a unit reunion in Saint Louis from July 30th. to August 1st. 1999, and since it will be the first unit reunion for my unit, I plan on taking a week off from work and drive out to Saint Louis for this event. I need to find out some information about the Pleiku area to refresh my memory and I hope that you can help me out. Was there a town or village called Cha-Rang near Camp Holloway? I remember several villages in the Pleiku area, but I cannot remember their names or their locations, other than the fact that several were near, Engineer Hill, Artillery Hill, Pleiku Airbase, and Dragon/Titty Mountain. I am looking for the location of the 62nd. maintenance Compound, which, according to a fomer member of my unit, was about 3 or 4 clicks from Artillery Hill. By the way, I am an active life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars. I am also involved with an organization called the Friends of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial. If anyone who sees this message lives in New Jersey or comes to my State, I hope that you can visit our Memorial.Unlike the Wall in Washington, this memorial also has a Vietnam Era Educational Center that was dedicated on September 26th. 1998. It covers the history of the Vietnam War era, and has very modern equipment and a resource library and computers to research various aspects of the war. Happy New Year to all Vietnam Vets whereever and whenever you served in_country. |

Name: J. James Website: Referred by: Word of Mouth From: CA Time: 1999-01-03 23:13:07 Comments: I was too young to remember much of the earier years of Viet Nam. One of my few memories of that time was sitting and watching the draft numbers come up on the screen with my family one night, and my oldest brother with his draft card in his hand. His number was not drawn; his best friends' brothers number was. He never came home. I have read through most of the pages on your site, and I know that I will never be able to fully comprehend the horrors and attrocities you endured while over there, let alone what you returned to "at home". For those of you reading this who were there and did come home, Welcome Back. I hope you have a great life. |

It has taken me 30 years to find you Earl Wilson. You flew with the binkin red platoon. You had inserted us into an LZ west of Dak To. I was badly wounded and you loaded me aboard your chopper which at that time you were wounded loading me. Even you were wounded you stopped my bleeding on the way to the evac hospital. I have requested your name from one of the nurses at the 71th Avac hospital.. She had told me that your wounds were not serious and you would be OK . They shipped me out the next day to the states. I have always wanted to thank you for saving my life. I have four children and five grandchildren and they have all been told the story. They called you people aircrews. I considered you grunts with golden wings. Over my tour you brought us mail, hope, food, and everything we needed. To all the pilots and crew of the 107th Assualt Heli Co Thank You on behalf of me and the rest of my airborne brothers. I hope Earl that you will contact me. |
