Record 13 Name: JOHN F. SZUCH Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In! From: Seville, OH Time: 1999-12-28 14:30:39 Comments: What a pleasant surprise to find your site. I did not know that there was a Camp Holloway in Vietnam, but I did know the man for whom the Camp was named! It was my pleasure, as a 2/lt right out of flight school, to be assigned to the 64th Trans. Co. at Ft. Knox, KY (12/60). It was there that I met CWO Holloway, who was a fellow pilot in the unit. I remember flying with him and to this day, consider him the "finest pilot" I ever had the privilege of flying with. I remember when we received the news that he had gotten killed in Vietnam. How saddened we all were by the loss of a friend and fellow pilot. It is somewhat comforting to find out that he was honored by his fellow soldiers and Country by the naming of the Camp in his honor. My thanks to all who worked on putting this site together, and now maintain it. |

Record 10 Name: Britt McKinley Mulhollem Website: Referred by: Via Search Engine From: Ocala Florida Time: 1999-12-27 10:14:47 Comments: I arrived at Camp Holloway Nov. 68 -April 69 member of the 604th Transportation Unit, later transferred to 608th Trans. ground crew (later mechanic) MOS 68B-20. Cleaned out lots of barrels of Dioxin and other 'agents' not to mention getting 'rained on' on perimeter patrol. I was diagnosed in 1995 with something called "Peripheral Neuropathy' something to do with nerves in my legs, causes numbing, then pain in legs, toes etc. The VA just decided it is a compensatable medical problem, due to direct exposure to A. Orange, but they did not compensate me!! Said they have to have diagnosis within two years of leaving service!!! Strange, because VA Docs say it is a slow moving , progressive disease that can 'lie dormant for many years' as it did in my case, then jump up and grab you with a vengeance! Anyone else been diagnosed who had the same MOS? You can either e-mail me or meet me at the E-group, Veterans List, and post a message to 'Moe' or my wife Karen (she signs in as 'moe's wife' just curious!) We enjoyed the Camp Holloway site, even though I did not recognize too many of you, there were a few that sounded familiar. Welcome Home Guys Moe's wife! |

We were hit more by friendly fire than from the NVA or VC. It was interesting, but I missed a lot, should have done more, reasons unknown in a way, just more. I managed to go on a couple of patrols, a few flights, but not what I had thought that I would be doing over there. I was hit twice, but the war was not over for a long time. Bob Smith |
