I had to grow up in a hurry! I don't know if I did...I was a door gunner on a "hog" scary!! I was at Camp Holloway from Oct 64 until Oct 65 and remember the great men that served with me. I would like to be in touch will anyone who was located there during that time. My second tour I flew "Hooks", CH-47's, and was initially located at "Bearcat" then the unit was moved to "Hue Phu Bai." We pitched our unit tents just outside the outer perimeter May 67 - May 68. I will be certain and submit information I have and perhaps you could use some photos which I took during that time. Lee Pondexter Biggs, Captain, was the gun-platoon leader and later returned with the Cav as the commander who had armed the "Hooks" for the Cav and had them all shot from under him. I would like to know where Lee is and also I have spoken with Cleveland Andrew Clark on two different occasions but haven't heard from him in a long while. I'm interested in getting reacquainted with any of you who were there during those years. |

From WORWAC 66-11 and served there in the last half of 1967 after a DEROS shuffle from the 4th Div at Camp Enari. I like to point out, now that the statute of limitations has run out, my claim to fame was burning more fuel than any one else in country. Along with Jack Breedlove we dropped some unchecked flares into the fuel dump between Pleiku AFB and Holloway and lit up the night sky in the highlands for hours. Anyway, Happy Holidays and the best to all in 98. |

My brother, CWO Mark D. Clotfelter was KIA 06/16/69. He was a member of the 361st ACE, the Pink Panthers. We were able to find the men from his unit in a short time with the help of computers, the VHFCN and wonderful people who cared enough to offer assistance. Mark had four sisters, Susan, Nida, Redina and me (the oldest). Susan, my husband, and I were the guests of the Pink Panthers at the VHPA reunion in Orlando in July. These courageous men told us stories and shared pictures with us and now we know what kind of man Mark became, a respected and trusted pilot of a Cobra Helicopter who saved many lives. The Heli-vets have posted the story of our search on their site. Thank you for adding Mark to your memorial page. |

Name: Nick Bellantoni Website: Referred by: Word of Mouth From: New Jersey Time: 1997-11-03 07:07:00 Comments: I found out about this link by way of a message from a member of the Pleiku Pals. I just looked at it today, 11/03/97, and it is really great. I served most of my time in Vietnam at Engineer Hill, but I did travel to all of the bases in the Pleiku area, including Camp Holloway, so I still remember some of the interesting sites in the area. I visited most if not all of the Montagnard Villages in the area, and especially Dragon Mountain, (Also called Titty Mountain), and at the time, I had a few close friends in each area. I do not know if I will ever go back to Vietnam, but your site brings back lots of memories. Thanks alot for your efforts, you did a great job putting this together. |

I was with the 448th Sig Det of the 170th and the 70th of the 119th. Later was to get another stripe I went to the 208th Sig Det of the 155th 1966-67. From the looks of the pics Holloway really started to grow. What was the Bird Dog Co, the 217th? Anyway Vern Gano does a great job keeping the 52nd CAB and Camp Holloway Association going. (Ganosown@aol.com) And you're doing a great job on this home page. |
