Comments: I'd like to correspond with anyone who remembers my dad, Dick Terry. He was a Supply Sgt./door gunner with the 52nd at Holloway 64/65. The sappers came through his position on Feb. 7 and he lost four from his platoon and was badly wounded. He carried wounded with Bill Mauldin (the cartoonist, who was there visiting his son at the time) until the medics made him take a seat. If anyone has memories of 'the sarge,' please drop me a line...and thanks for this great site.

Comments: I came across your site during a search for 40mm grenade photos for our Army Missile & Munitions School digital library. I was stationed at Holloway during Tet '68, with the 88th S&S Bn (SFC-Ammo type). I used to fly as a volunteer backseat observer with the 119th Avn's Recon Platoon (the Headhunters). Would you have any photos you would like to put in our library for our young students to see? We incorporate them into our lesson plans and slide presentations.

Comments: I was a crew chief on a Marine UH-34D located in DaNang and participated in the large joint operation with your group. I wrote about the operation on our squardron web site www.hmm-364.org. A detachment of the 52nd flew cover for us and most of the time were the only ones we could count on to keep the enemy's heads down. The S. Vietnamese Air Force never seemed to be available after 5:00 PM.

We are currently trying to get a Navy Cross awarded to Lt.Gen. Jack "Woody" Woodmansee, a Capt. at the time with the 52nd detachment, for his much appreciated bravery while supporting us with cover in action at Do Xa on April 27, 1964. Do Xa was 15 miles west northwest of Quang Ngai. He was recommended for the award by our command to the USMC. We now feel action was not taken because no Navy or Marines personnel had yet been awarded the Navy Cross in Vietnam. They weren't about to award the first one to an Army pilot. We are looking for additional witnesses to this action besides the enlisted and officers we are still in contact. The story of the action is on our web site. If any of you from the 52nd were involved in clobbering those enemy machine gun positions for us on that day or have contact with those that were, please contact me via my e-mail address.

At the time all we had was a M-60 in the door and an AR-15 out the side window. We loved seeing those Army birds covering our flanks and backsides with the M-60's and 2.75's ; the VC didn't.
